August Times Had by All...

This has been another great month! Graham came to visit for a couple weeks from Seattle. It was the first time we have seen him in a year! I think that is the longest time I've ever gone without seeing my brother. Of course, with little kiddos, they can change a whole lot in a year! He was surprised to see how big Calvin was and to get to meet Jack for the first time.

There was a lot of music made in our house while he was here. Here's a fun family jam session. Graham is playing the Cajone, a cool drum box thing. Cal even joined in on the fun with his tiny guitar.

Jack is getting much bigger and is transitioning into sleeping through the nights-thank you Babywise! He slept 9 hours the other night. It's still not every night yet, but we're getting there. I am feeling much better with sleep. I don't function well when exhausted.

This is a new fun activity that has become an almost everyday thing. I read about this in a book and thought I'd give it a try. You put shaving cream in a muffin tin and add different colors of food coloring and let the kids paint the tub! Calvin loves this and asks to "paint" on a regular basis.

Calvin has also been saying some really cute things and I wanted to document them so that we won't forget them someday. He calls Cooper our dog, "Pooper" because he can't say it right. He will say, "ah, ah pooper" when Cooper is doing something naughty, or "Pooper, where are you?!?" It is so hard to not laugh every single time. He is also singing constantly. Some of his favorite songs are the Winnie the Pooh theme song (to which he knows all the words) Easy Going a song on the movie "Follow that Bird" and the I love you song from Barney (yuck) but it's sooo cute when he sings it to us.

Catching up!

Wowzers! To say I have been busy would be a HUGE understatement! Life with two boys has been all that I hoped it would be and more. I have come to truly understand that love multipies, not divides, the larger our family becomes. I do have more love in my heart for another precious child named Jack Gentry Deitrich!

And now I will proceed typing one-handed as I am holding him now. That pretty much sums up life lately. Learning to do all kinds of things with one hand...

The transition to two has definitely had its challenges. I've had to really lower my standards about keeping up my house and chores. At times Calvin wears the same shirt for days, we all sit around stinky and the laundry is a huge mountain downstairs, but hey, there are worst things. I've had to accept that right now, I really can't do it all, especially running on only a few hours sleep at a time.
BUT, I am happy to report that at two months Jack has "slept through the night" twice in a row-8 hours! That is probably why I feel refreshed enough to reflect on life now. And to do a load of laundry. Hah! I have more to report. I plan on posting again very soon.
